DESIGN ALTERATION & CHANGES
It is your responsibility to read & check the quote thoroughly; any amendments to design should be made in writing. We will endeavour to accommodate any changes if possible, but late changes cannot always be guaranteed and may increase the quoted fee.

We reserve the right to change the design at any point if circumstances beyond our control, may compromise the quality of the finished cake, e.g. melting due to weather. Each cake is made individually by hand, so although every effort is made to ensure consistency, a small amount of variation may occur from the design requested / picture supplied.

Sometime cake items/materials may become obsolete or no longer available from our suppliers, for example, pre-manufactured items or ribbon colours. This is totally out of our control; however, we will endeavour to re-design a cake to reflect as closely as possible the original design using replacement products. In all cases we will try to contact you to advise you of any such changes, however we reserve the right to replace these with component of equal or better quality without consultation.

ALLERGIES & SPECIAL DIETARY REQUIREMENTS

SPECIAL DIETS
Please discuss with us if you or any of your guests have special dietary requirements. Cakes can be made gluten free / alcohol free/ egg free / soya free & dairy free. Please be aware that although ingredients such as nuts can be removed from the cakes, they are still used in our kitchen so we cannot guarantee that any of our cakes are completely free of them. You, the Customer assume full responsibility for informing anyone eating the cakes of this and allergy information is provided with all cake orders.

NON-EDIBLE ITEMS
Most cakes contain small proportions of inedible items; it is the client’s responsibility to ensure these are removed by your caterer/guests before consumption e.g. Support dowels in tiered cakes, ribbon.
Some flowers (e.g. Ivy) are poisonous and not suitable for use on food products, you should notify your flower supplier of your intention to use the flowers on food to ensure that non-poisonous flowers are used.

DELIVERY CONDITIONS
Delivery charges are calculated on a mileage and time basis. Alternatively, cakes can be collected from our premises.

Should you require delivery, we will endeavour to deliver and set up as agreed to ensure the cake is displayed at its best. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have provided us with the set-up details and arrangements made with the venue for the location and display of your cake.

We ask for patience with factors that may be beyond our control (e.g. traffic conditions) as we cannot be held liable for any such delays. In some circumstances, we may recommend the cake be delivered 1 day in advance. It is your responsibility to ensure you inform us of your correct ceremony and event time plus the postcode of the venue. In the unlikely event of late delivery, the maximum compensation will be a refund of the delivery price.

We cannot be held responsible for the location of the cake at the venue. Please ensure, therefore, that the display location is level, stable and strong enough to hold the cake. A photograph of the cake will be taken prior to departure by the Company to verify that the cake has been set up and left in good condition and a signature will be required from venue staff to confirm the cake was safely set up and left in good condition.

Please remember that chocolate or buttercream covered cakes can melt in warm conditions such as inside a marquee on a hot summer’s day, or when set up in direct sunlight.

Late requests for delivery (after securing the booking based on collection) will be accommodated where possible, but cannot be guaranteed, as earlier delivery commitments must take priority.

COLLECTION CONDITIONS

Once cakes / cupcakes have been collected you are 100% responsible of how you handle and transport them. Any damage caused by mishandling the cake and/or cupcakes is down to your error and we are not responsible for this.

Please ensure cakes are placed securely in the footwell of the car or in the boot and that you have sufficient room for the cake(s) prior to collection.

STORAGE & CONSUMPTION

DAMAGE
Please remember that cake decorations are very delicate items, and we cannot accept responsibility for damage that is done to the cake after it has left our possession. If any damage occurs after the cake has left our possession, then you can advise us and request a repair, which will be costed accordingly, including transport costs if appropriate.

PORTION GUIDE
Our portion guides are intended as a guide only. This will vary dependant upon how the cake is cut.

BEST BEFORE DATE / STORAGE CONDITIONS
Your cake is baked to ensure it is fresh for the date of your event, we cannot guarantee its quality if it’s consumed more than 48 hours after the event. They are made of natural ingredients, so we’d like to remind you that because of this they will not have the extended shelf life of most supermarket cakes, which contain additives and preservatives to ensure their prolonged life. Freezing the cake however, preserves the taste of the sponge and icing as much as feasibly possible, but please bear in mind that it can affect the visual appearance of the icing, as condensation will form upon defrosting. Please ask advice if you intend to freeze cake.

Food hygiene recommendations recommend that food should only be frozen for a maximum of 3 months

Sugar paste cakes should not be refrigerated, as it will cause condensation to form on the surface of the icing. Refrigeration also accelerates the staling of the flour in the cake. However, if this is required because of hot weather, please seek advice from us beforehand.

COMPLAINTS
If you have concerns about your cake, please notify us upon collection / delivery of the cake so that we have the opportunity to rectify it in time for your event. If an issue arises after this time, the cake must be returned within 24 hours to be examined to determine the cause of the issue. All other concerns should be made in writing, and evidence of the fault should be included. No refunds are given due to change of mind. Refunds are at the discretion of Ditsy’s Cakes.

PORTION GUIDE

Whether your cake is for a wedding, birthday or other celebration the last thing you want is to find you don’t have enough cake to go round to all of your guests! The guide below gives you approximate servings for round and square cakes. If you are unsure of the size of the portions (or cakes) you would like, I am more than happy to help suggest the best size for your event.

CAKE PORTIONS

All of my cakes are approximately 4+ inches high and consist usually two or three layers of filling (with the exception of fruit cakes and the 6 layer Rainbow cake). The number of portions given on the guide below are based on the following dimensions:

• Finger/Coffee Size:  1 inch x 1 inch x 5 inches (standard wedding portion)
• Dessert Size:  2 inches x 1 inch x 5 inches (home party size)

Rich fruit cakes are traditionally cut into coffee/finger size portions measuring 1 x 1 x 4”

CAKE PORTION CHART

The tables below give a rough guide to the number of portions you can cut from round or square cakes of various sizes. The number of portions given on the chart is only intended as a guide as actual quantities may vary depending on the person cutting your cake. This chart shows cakes which are 3.5 inches high, mine are generally 4”+.
